Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Alison Barry, education and youth director, Unicorn Theatre

1 min read
What exactly do you do? I devise the strategy, theory and practice of Unicorn Theatre for Children's education programme. The Unicorn Theatre works with more than 50,000 children per year from schools and the public sector.

Describe a typical day. I might be planning the family workshop programme for the first year of our new theatre in London. We open in the autumn and will play to more than 100,000 children per year. Alternatively, I could be working with a class of 10-year-olds, investigating a new play for children or briefing a team of actors for a school residency.

What other agencies, and who else within your organisation, do you work with? Alongside Unicorn's team I work with a host of performing artists and leaders in the field of drama education. Many of our education activities are made possible through external funding and I work closely with these partner organisations every day.
