Working in the North West: Oldham hopes CD will attract staff

Oldham children's fund has teamed up with Oldham Theatre Workshop and a local college to produce a pop single written and performed by 100 local children.

The initiative is aimed at raising awareness nationally of children'sneeds and to position Oldham as a vibrant place to work in children'sservices. The idea stemmed from research that included the views of3,000 children, parents and carers on what they needed to achieve thefive Every Child Matters outcomes.

According to Paul Makin, interim executive director of children'sservices at Oldham: "The song will raise awareness of what Oldham'schildren require to achieve the five outcomes. We need the very bestcandidates to continue to apply for positions within children'sservices."

The song, Every Child Matters is available as a CD single through thecouncil's web site along with an accompanying DVD documentary.
