Workforce Reform: Guide to youth workers' conditions to be released

The Report of the Joint Negotiating Committee for Youth and Community Workers is an update of the Pink Book - the JNC document outlining conditions of service for youth and community workers, which was last updated six years ago.

The document has been produced to accommodate the revised pay and grading structure for youth workers, which came into effect earlier this year, and outlines details of the advanced practitioner grade, which all principal youth officers are encouraged to adopt into their work-force structure from this month.

It also outlines for the first time how youth workers' rights fall into line with their fellow local government colleagues in three areas: sickness, maternity and parental leave.
