The action involves the withdrawal of cover for teachers, a service theypreviously provided out of goodwill, and is thought to involve most ofthe London borough's 150 nursery nurses, 129 of whom are Unisonmembers.
Unison branch secretary Onay Kasab says the action has already had anaffect, with nurses reporting that a number of head teachers have nowcontacted the council for guidance. He said the withdrawal of goodwillwill continue until a deal is reached, and added that further action,including strikes, is possible this term.
The dispute centres on the union's rejection of a 5,000 payupgrade being offered by the council (Children Now, 8-14 February).
