Workforce development: Qualifications to decrease by 2010

The number of qualifications is likely to decrease in the run-up to an integrated qualifications framework in 2010, said the council's chief executive, Jane Haywood.

She envisages the framework including qualifications such as a two-year degree for everyone working with young people, allowing them to then specialise in areas such as youth justice. The council was due to publish its business plan yesterday.
