Social care charity The Social Resource Centre has opened its new centre after it received 87,000 from Futurebuilders England. It means it can provide people-centred services for vulnerable people in County Durham, including domiciliary care services. www.futurebuilders-england.org.uk

- Bristol charity Young&Free has received £50,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to help young disabled people make friends with non-disabled peers through trips to the cinema, bowling and local attractions. www.biglotteryfund.org.uk

- Nick Nielsen, co-founder of educational charity Envision, has been given the £10,000 Leadership Award by the Shackleton Foundation, which aims to support inspirational leaders who want to make a difference, particularly to less advantaged people. www.shackletonfoundation.org.
