WALES: YWCA funding used to update premises

The grant of 29,100, from the assembly's Community Facilities and Activities Fund, will be used to refurbish the project's premises, with young people forming part of the redesign process. The project works with teenage mums, ethnic minorities and sex workers.

Senior youth worker Liz Dennis said: "We want to create a welcoming space for young women." Refit plans include an IT suite for computer tuition and a new reception area.

Senghenydd Youth Drop-In Centre, in Caerphilly, also benefited from the round of funding, receiving 73,300 for one year. Centre manager Dave Brunton said: "It is money to keep our heads above water."
