The scheme, run by Neath Port Talbot council's social services andeducation departments, is believed to be the first in England andWales.
Teachers will be able to look up relevant information about looked-afterchildren, such as their personal education plan, dates of meetings aboutthe child and their care and family contact arrangements.
The computer system has been piloted by three schools since Septemberand will now be rolled out to all schools in the borough.
The council also plans to expand the scheme to give doctors' surgeriesrelevant data about children in care.
Neath Port Talbot is one of four authorities piloting the integratedchildren's system to share data on children in need. The other councils,Richmond in London, Lancashire and York, are not believed to have set upa database to share information with teachers.
