The Integrated Centres in Wales report by the Institute of Welsh Affairsconcluded that centres "can have hugely beneficial impacts" and createdvaluable resources for families and children. But it uncovered realconcern and uncertainty about future funding for the centres.
The integrated centres programme was launched in 2003 and there is nowat least one centre in each of the 24 local authority areas inWales.
Report author Nia Seaton said the way they actively sought andencouraged community involvement had been key. She added that they hadalready made a significant difference despite the fact the programmetook longer to get up and running than anticipated and many had onlybeen open for a short period of time.
