The report found more girls, who traditionally have shied away fromcompetitive games, are now taking part in school activities thanks toextra funding from organisations like the Big Lottery Fund.
Teachers have used the cash to run new activities including yoga, climbing, tag rugby, cheerleading, street-dance and self-defence.However, in nearly a third of schools, the new activities had stoppedafter the funding ended. The report also calls for schools to improvechanging and shower facilities, ensure girls are comfortable with thekit chosen and show equal respect for girls' and boys' achievements inphysical education.
