If they get the rehabilitation that they need, then yes it is a good thing. With this case it is hard to know how long it will take.
One of the children is 11 and has 11 years of conditioning to be like that. It may well take another 11 years to recondition him to be able to go back into society.
The problem with setting the minimum at five years though is it appears to give the wrong message for the families of the victims. There is also a fear that they will be released no matter what before they get into the adult justice system. I hope that is not the case.
