The benefits of cycling in terms of health and concentration levels far outweigh any concerns that schools may have regarding school safety. If safety is a concern, then schools shouldn't be discouraging pupils from cycling, they should be working with them to improve their cycle proficiency and road sense. I would like to see much more promotion of cycle proficiency. Schools can take that to whatever level they need to ensure safety is maintained.
