Vox pop - Are 16-year-olds too young to be getting married?

2 mins read

YES

Sixteen is too young to be in a serious relationship, let alone get married. People need to have different experiences before making such a major commitment. For a start, having a career is important so that they are financially stable, as well as having already lived alone or with friends. Young people need the responsibility of supporting themselves and paying bills.

The biggest issue is that people change dramatically from their teenage years. By the time they reach 20, they are likely to be a different person to the one they were. This would mean even more divorces. If everyone got married at 16 there would be so many failed marriages it would be ridiculous.
