Voting Age: Call for change in law dismissed

The Electoral Commission's decision not to recommend reducing the voting age to 16 is "disappointing", said the UK Youth Parliament.

The Local Government Information Unit said the reasons for sticking to the existing voting age were "extremely dubious", while the National Youth Agency said the decision would "draw a further divide between young people and the democratic process".

However, all were pleased that the commission had recommended reducing the age of candidature to 18.
