Youth facilities in Kiveton and Treeton were forced to close for health and safety reasons after it was feared that water might have affected the electrics.
Workers from centres have been helping out at emergency evacuation centres set up at Herringthorpe Leisure Centre and Dinnington Comprehensive School. Sarah Bellamy, senior youth worker at Rotherham Young People's Services, said: "When the decision was made to close the centres a lot of my colleagues wanted to use their time to help those who have been displaced from their homes. Some of the youth workers have been working right into the early hours."
The workers have also been handing out supplies of toiletries and other goods that had been collected by young people for an exchange trip to Tanzania in February but never used.
