More than 40 young people will be involved in the two-year scheme, acting as volunteers to promote BYC work in their home towns.
The scheme aims to help young people make positive contributions in their communities, develop new skills and work towards a Silver Youth Achievement Award. The initiative kicked off on Saturday (7 July) with an induction for all new volunteers at the BYC's headquarters in London.
David Clark, BYC programmes co-ordinator, said the work would involve young people talking to their peers about issues that affected them: "One of our campaigns is age discrimination so they will be finding out what shops are like to young people and taking pictures of signs that say no under-16s."
Clark said the information gathered would be used to lobby Parliament.
