Volunteering: NHS scheme aims to target young

1 min read

As part of the government-backed scheme, a volunteer development officer will be appointed to work with hospitals to help boost the number of volunteers from diverse backgrounds, particularly the young and socially excluded groups.

Groups that provide volunteers within hospitals will be able to apply for small grants from a pool of 75,000 for volunteering work. There will also be one-day training courses for volunteer managers and NHS Executive Board members.

The scheme has been funded jointly by the Office of the Third Sector and the Care Services Improvement Partnership.

It will be run by Time for Health, which represents NHS volunteering organisations.
