Volunteering: Government plans commission group

The group, made up of representatives from government, business and the voluntary sector, will be charged with generating enough support from the private sector to match government spending on implementing the proposals.

The Government plans to spend 100m during the next three years to implement the recommendations. But 55m of this depends on matched funding from the private sector.

Speaking at the Youth in the Community conference in London last week, Philip Mind, a senior policy adviser at the Treasury and a Russell Commission member, said it was important to involve business in the work.
