Russell Commission: Home Office seeks chief and board for volunteering body

1 min read

The board will lead the independent body, which will have the task of implementing the proposals outlined in the Russell Commission report, published earlier this year. Youth engagement charity Kikass is working alongside the Home Office to devise a strategy to involve young people in the plans.

The board, which will be appointed by ScottishPower chief executive Ian Russell in October, will include young people, the voluntary sector and business. Its first task when it meets in November will be to appoint the chief executive and choose the name of the organisation, based on recommendations from young people.

The chief executive will start work in December, when a five-year delivery plan will be drawn up and tenders invited from organisations to provide volunteering opportunities from April 2006.
