1 min read

The project, Engage A Generation, is part of the brigade's aim to modernise and reach out to more young people.

Phil Lund, youth participation worker for the project, said: "The whole ethos of Engage A Generation is to change the image of the Boys' Brigade, and to make it more relevant to young people."

Three-year funding worth 215,000 for Lund's post, training and curriculum redevelopment has come from the Government's National Voluntary Youth Organisation grant stream. Lund said: "We used to have uniforms and drill but not every young person wants that. We need to be flexible to young people's needs and my job is to promote participation and empowerment at every level, ask young people about our core values, and establish a culture whereby young people are listened to and involved."
