Training: Learning council tackles e2e courses shortage

1 min read

Caroline Neville, national director of learning at the council, spoke as the organisation announced Agenda for Change - a review promising an overhaul of the organisation's effectiveness.

The Association of Learning Providers (ALP) has estimated that higher demand for courses, together with a freeze in funding, will lead to 9,000 fewer places on the e2e programme this academic year.

Connexions partnerships around the country have spoken out about the lack of alternative pre-NVQ Level 2 courses available for young people who are unable to complete courses within the specified timescale.

Neville said: "I'm not saying the structure is right - if it was, we would not have all these reviews going on. The objective is to make the most of the funds that are invested in learning and to make sure that they're reaching the right learners. We're moving with urgency and expect to have formed our views by early spring."
