Training: Fairbridge to give courses in finance

1 min read

The courses are for young people aged 13 to 25. They will use resources produced by the Financial Services Authority. The initiative is part of Fairbridge's 1.43m partnership with the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The roll-out follows a pilot project run by Fairbridge West in Bristol that teaches young people to budget for projects. Frances Harrison, manager of Fairbridge West, said young people suffer from a lack of confidence and financial awareness, and are being bombarded with adverts from banks and lenders when they turn 18.

"Young people often fall into a cycle of debt due to their circumstances and a lack of understanding about budgeting," she said. "The courses we offer embed information within engaging and interesting projects."
