Goals: Helping young people gain life-skills

Funding: The Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest have provided 310,000

Socially excluded young people can miss out on learning vital life-skills such as cooking and money management, especially if they're living rough or have left home at an early age. This can make it hard for them to claw their way back into mainstream society, including securing accommodation and employment.

The move by Fairbridge to launch the Clued Up! initiative marks a major shift in the national charity's work. It is now piloting a scheme of formal, planned courses, with the emphasis on fun.
