Society as a whole has a negative view of youth today, in part due to the influence of the media, which often portrays us as an idiotic, violent group, far too incompetent to vote. This is not true and I want to prove this.
By allowing 16-year-olds to vote, not only are you instantly empowering them to engage in society, but you are giving them the opportunity to influence decisions that will define their futures. After all, young people are the future generation and they all have a voice, so why can't they use it?
I would actively encourage young people to involve themselves in politics and make them realise not only the relevance, but the importance of engaging in society through voting.
