The National Youth Agency: YPDP case study - Havering Motorvations

Havering Motorvations started life as a mechanics project. Through the Young People's Development Programme (YPDP) young people gained access to a broader range of activities including mountain biking, canoeing, sculpture and mending bicycles to send to Africa.

Young people were able to participate in Getting Connected, providing basic skills training and on-site careers guidance. They had access to vocational and non-vocational certification through the project's strong partnerships with Connexions and an FE college. The project increased its focus on health. For example, offering smoking cessation counselling and adopting a "c-card" condom distribution scheme.
