The National Youth Agency: Youthinformation.com looksat ... Wildlife Trusts Marine Week

1 min read

The Wildlife Trusts Marine Week is taking place throughout August, with different regions of the country choosing different weeks.

This year it is celebrating the UK's amazing sea animals and plants.

Although not home to many turtles, the UK's marine environment provides a haven for some of our most fascinating wildlife, such as basking sharks, grey seals, puffins and dolphins.

However, this future is under threat from the pressures of pollution, oil spills, over-intensive fishing and the entanglement of dolphins, turtles and seabirds in fishing gear.

How you can participate

The Wildlife Trusts will be promoting its marine programme during Marine Week, including its dolphin campaign, basking shark project and its petition to increase marine legislation to protect the UK's fragile sea environment.
