Dyslexia affects:
- The skills that are needed for learning reading, writing, spelling and numeracy
- Three times as many boys as girls, this is up to 15 per cent of boys
- Confidence and self-esteem

Dyslexia Awareness Week 2004 is taking place between Monday 27 September and Saturday 2 October. The Dyslexia Institute is taking a national look at the hidden costs of dyslexia to the nation as a result of unrecognised dyslexia and the need for earlier identification and intervention.
