Part of the appeal of the sport seems to come from the lifestyle and culture associated with it. Skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding share a similar identity which includes a common style, attitude and language.
SKATEBOARDING IN CITY CENTRES
It is likely that certain areas of city centres will be out of bounds for skateboarding. Highly populated areas or sites of historical interest, such as town halls, will have restrictions imposed by the local authority.
Breeching the regulations may incur fines or you could even be prosecuted.
Make enquiries in your area as some towns now have specially allocated areas or purpose built ramps in skateboard parks. They will be situated safely away from where other people may be inconvenienced.
