The Bat Sunrise Survey is run by the Bat Conservation Trust and is part of the National Bat Monitoring Programme. The Sunrise Survey enables the identification of roost sites to see whether new ones are being created or old ones lost. Bats play an important part in maintaining a healthy balance within the natural world, although they are threatened by loss of habitat and insect prey in the UK.
The survey takes place on Saturday 24 July. All you need to do is get up an hour before sunrise and look out for bats. Download your survey form at www.bats.org.uk/ downloads/sunriseweb.pdf.
