The National Youth Agency: Youth Work Week 2005 to explore'Enjoying and achieving' theme

1 min read

The decision by The National Youth Agency's Executive Board comes after taking soundings from the field over the past three months. The Agency feels this theme will provide opportunities to focus on two core aspects of youth work - enjoyably extending young people's experience and offering them the chance to achieve, especially those who do not respond well in more formal environments. Enjoyment and achievement is also one of the five major outcomes that has been central to government policy for children and young people since the publication of Every Child Matters.

The NYA believes that this theme will enable organisations to focus on how youth work both enriches young people's everyday lives and promotes achievement. The theme fits in well with current work around accredited and recorded outcomes and provides good opportunities for participation from Award schemes and other programmes offering accreditation.
