Young Roots - The Voyage; Location: Derby
THE PROJECT
This project will involve filming and recording the generation of Black people who travelled from the Caribbean and Africa to this country in the 1950s with a comparison of recent generations. Young people will interview older people to find out about their journey to England and discover why they chose to live in Derby. The aim is to provide a living celebration of the accomplishments of the older generation. The grant will cover tutor costs, field trips to the slavery museum, Black art galleries and other events, and purchasing history books.
