The National Youth Agency: Young Roots - Blackdrop

Each week we feature one of the projects run in partnership with an NYA-managed funding stream - Young People's Development Programme, Young Roots, Partners in Innovation or the Neighbourhood Support Fund.

Lead Agency: Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery

Partners: Nu Century Arts

THE PROJECT

This project is engaging young people in schools and community groups in accessing, understanding and learning about their heritage through the innovative use and interpretation of museum collections, including Keith Piper's "Ghosts of Christendom" and other notable works by Black artists. Young people will then use this knowledge to produce performance pieces of their own.
