The National Youth Agency: Young people in NSF projects take onrange of accredited learning courses

2 mins read

I recently worked on The National Youth Agency's stand at the Local Government Association Conference in Bournemouth. One piece of literature we gave away was a pocket-sized version of the Local Authority Pledge to Young People. In it, The NYA supports the provision of the pledge, which should provide "the opportunity to participate in programmes that offer accreditation for learning, such as The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Youth Achievement Award or similar".

Part of my role at the agency is to edit The NYA's Neighbourhood Support Fund (NSF) newsletter, NSF Dialogue, and the forthcoming edition's planned theme is accreditation. NSF projects are based in 40 of the most deprived areas of England with a target of engaging with young people who are, or are at risk of, being NEET (not in education, employment or training).
