The National Youth Agency: Validation requirements revision out foronline consultation period

1 min read
The National Youth Agency is undertaking a consultation exercise on the 2007 revision of professional validation requirements for higher education programmes - those that are recognised by the Joint Negotiating Committee as conferring professionally qualified status for youth workers in England.

This revision is in anticipation of the move to an all-degree profession, which will become effective for all courses commencing on or after 1 September 2010.

The revised requirements are presented in three new documents - Introduction to Professional Validation and Curriculum Requirements, The Professional Validation and Monitoring Process and Professional Validation Criteria and Evidence Requirements - which are available for free download from The NYA's web site. The information provided by all three documents is designed to ensure that higher education initiations understand what is required of them to design and deliver a course that enables those qualifying through the programme to operate as skilled and valued practitioners within the youth work profession.

The papers now out for consultation have been developed over the past year by the Workforce Development Task Group of The NYA's Education and Training Standards Committee.

Full information on the revision of validation requirements and an opportunity to participate in the consultation can also be found on The NYA's web site. The consultation will run until 3 November 2006.

Anyone wishing to contribute should add their responses to the Word document feedback form and return it to Diane Evans, The NYA's development officer for quality standards: dianee@nya.org.uk.
