The National Youth Agency: The NYA helps set up support packagesfor youth services

Context

The DfES expressed its commitment to a process of continuous improvement for youth services, as outlined in Transforming Youth Work and the subsequent document, Resourcing Excellent Youth Services. So far the implementation strategy has included:

- The Transforming Youth Work Development Fund and Special Educational Needs and Disability Act resources. - Management development for senior youth work staff - Workforce development - Development of quality management - Work on standards and indicators These new support arrangements are part of this overall strategy.

Purposes

Responsibility for securing a satisfactory youth service rests with the local authority but support may be needed by those services that Ofsted identifies as unsatisfactory. Support can cover a number of areas:
