Called v, the charity was launched on 8 May, with the announcement of two new funding programmes. These will provide grants for organisations to develop a range of volunteering opportunities for young people and to employ two-person teams to stimulate and co-ordinate activity locally.
Development officer Dave Phillips, who co-ordinates The NYA's work on volunteering, said: "We are particularly pleased to see the emphasis that is being placed on improving the quality of the volunteering experience.
There is a strong emphasis on ensuring that organisations have appropriate quality assurance systems in place, that young people are given the support they need to develop skills and take on new responsibilities, and on evaluating the impact of volunteering on young people, services and communities."
