The National Youth Agency: Seminar addresses grief of refugees

Many asylum seeking and refugee children and young people have experienced the death of family members or friends, often in traumatic circumstances.

This, and further traumatic experiences and losses, can have a devastating effect on their emotional and physical health, their behaviour, learning and relationships.

Grief Matters for Young Asylum Seekers and Refugees, a free consultation seminar hosted by NCB and the Childhood Bereavement Network on Thursday 4 October, brought together policy makers and managers to discuss effective strategies for delivering appropriate bereavement support to this vulnerable group.

The findings will be published later this year.
