Advertisements have appeared in the national and specialist press for the post. The closing date for applications is 5 March, with a final interview scheduled for the end of April.
Bishop Roger Sainsbury, chair of The National Youth Agency, said: "This is clearly a key appointment for The Agency and to ensure we get it right The Agency's executive board will work closely with a specialist firm of recruitment consultants throughout the process. We're optimistic that we'll get a strong response to our advertisements.
"The new chief executive will lead and manage the organisation, providing strategic vision and ensuring sound operational management. They will have a clear empathy with, and experience of, the youth agenda and be able to translate this passion for the subject into tangible results."
