THE NATIONAL YOUTH AGENCY: Rural Services Standard under review

1 min read

The Standard, first published in the Rural White Paper in 2000, aims to ensure people who live in rural areas have access to a range of public services to meet their needs for work, essential services and leisure activities. This is done by promoting a better understanding of the access to services they can expect - and ensuring that the services they already have are monitored and maintained.

There was a commitment to monitor and review the Standard annually through the Cabinet Committee on Rural Renewal in the light of advice from the Countryside Agency and others. A Rural Services Standard 2003 and the Countryside Agency's second progress report will be published next month.
