The National Youth Agency: Partners promote the right toparticipation

1 min read
Last year, the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) adopted the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and made a firm commitment to give children and young people a voice and influence throughout the workings of their organisation.

Since this commitment, CWDC has made impressive strides towards implementing an effective participation strategy.

The organisation has worked in close partnership with The National Youth Agency's Participation Team to embed CWDC's vision and strategy for participation effectively. The NYA has provided consultancy for key staff who have successfully made participation a reality in their work, and have also set up awareness raising sessions for all staff. Participation Champions for each team have been identified and a toolkit launched which is proving successful in supporting staff to apply their knowledge and skills.

CWDC is using The NYA's Hear by Right standards framework to identify the priorities for participation, its next steps for action and to set up accountable leads and action groups for the coming year.
