The National Youth Agency: NYA hands young staff control onTakeover Day

1 min read
The National Youth Agency (NYA) marked the recent 11 Million Takeover Day by inviting a small group of young people to have their say on how The NYA is run.

The day - 23 November - enables young people in England to "take over" leading institutions, jobs and organisations. The idea is to put children and young people in the hot seat regarding decisions and policies that affect them.

The NYA views this as a small part of a wider process and is currently reviewing the role young people play in its governance in order to create a model for the future. This in turn will build towards a national seminar on young people and governance in March 2008 alongside YouthBank UK.

On 23 November, The NYA worked with a forum of young staff members - Lisa Hartland, Melody Hossaini, Manpreet Darroch and Ish Seth - to further establish a list of priorities for the active involvement of young people in the Agency's work and decision making.
