The National Youth Agency: NYA conducts annual audit of youthservices

Every year, The Agency looks at three key areas - funding, staffing and contact with young people. This examines the spending of youth services, their budgets, the income they receive from local authorities and other sources, and staffing - how many youth workers, volunteers and managerial staff they employ.

Contact with young people looks at how many young people are within each authority and how many use youth services.

The NYA's head of information Jon Boagey said: "It gives us a picture of spending, staffing and contact across the country. On the basis that most authorities respond - and over 90 per cent do - we can make year-on-year comparisons.
