The Resourcing Excellent Youth Services (REYS) survey will ask questions such as how many young people participated in youth services in an area and how many were working towards an accredited outcome.
Youth organisations have faced criticism from politicians about the lack of evidence in the sector.
The National Youth Agency stopped collecting similar data in 2008 after the government pulled funding for the audit after questions were raised about its value.
David Wright, chief executive of Chyps, said: "I've spoken to various heads of services who have said they miss the NYA annual audit. Chyps can't replicate that audit but we do want to capture the REYS data if youth services still collect it."
