The NYA has been appointed by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) to review relevant external initiatives relating to food and children and young people. We wish to examine good work already taking place, and to use such information to inform good practice elsewhere. The primary aim is to inform future FSA decisions about activities needed to promote their commitment to youth. The scoping project is to be completed by the end of May.
Hilary Spiers, Director of Communications at The NYA, welcomed the initiative.
"We are delighted to be working with the FSA on this project," she said.
"The NYA is concerned about all issues affecting young people's development.
Nutrition and attitudes to food are clearly topics of great relevance to young people's lives, and their current and future health and wellbeing."
Any projects working in this area that would like to discuss their work or propose their methodology as an example of good practice are asked to contact either Steve Beebee (0116 285 3761; steveb@nya. org.uk) or Kerry Williams (0116 285 3716; kerryw@nya.org.uk).
