THE NATIONAL YOUTH AGENCY: Looking Forward to Thursdays

1 min read

It takes as its starting point evidence that the incidence of mental health difficulties among young people is increasing at an alarming rate, with some groups such as the homeless or those leaving care at particularly high risk.

The book claims that young people who experience mental health difficulties are subject to discrimination, and are at risk of experiencing severe isolation and exclusion from society throughout their lives unless effective interventions can be made.

By drawing on case studies and testimonies from learners, Looking Forward to Thursdays aims to provide practical advice and encouragement to staff new to this area of work and those already involved. It is relevant to anybody with an interest in young adults and mental health, including personal advisers working in the Connexions Service, youth workers involved in voluntary and statutory community projects and teachers and tutors across the formal and informal learning sectors.
