The National Youth Agency: Comment - Looking forward and back

The arrival of another year is a prompt both to reflect on the year just gone and to look forward. It is also a timely reminder that, just because we change the date, we do not have a sharp break with what has gone before.

So, we can say farewell to 2006 and welcome 2007 in by celebrating the continued implementation of the Government's Youth Matters agenda, notably the emphasis that has been given to the engagement of young people in decision-making through the Youth Opportunity Fund and the Challenge Fund.

We can give two cheers for the somewhat improved legislative base for youth work - and resolve to press the case for this to be fully implemented and financed locally.
