NYA chief executive Fiona Blacke or director of programmes Heather Stevens will be at each of nine regional events helping to explain to councillors their new responsibilities under the transfer of the commissioning role for 16 to 19 services from the Learning and Skills Council to local authorities. This takes effect on 1 April this year.
Organised by the Improvement and Development Agency and React, the raising expectations action programme, the regional briefing sessions will explore how clear political leadership can reap benefits for young people from the changed arrangements. They will include the essential information councillors will need about the transfer and an opportunity to think through their role under the new commissioning responsibilities.
