The National Youth Agency: Flying start for national training

Some 3,000 people have signed up for a new national programme for leadership and management in services for young people.

The training is part of a three-year programme commissioned by the Children's Workforce Development Council on behalf of the Children's Workforce Network. The fully funded training is being offered to 450 service leaders and 5,000 frontline managers across all local authorities in England, most national voluntary youth organisations and independent providers.

It is being delivered by FPM Training together with a consortium of partners including The National Youth Agency (NYA), Youth Access, Regional Youth Work Units and the Community and Youth Workers' Union.

Kevin Ford, chief executive of FPM Training, said: "The programme has got off to a flying start, supported by the experience of our consortium partners. This demonstrates the appetite across the youth workforce to meet the challenges of Aiming High, the government's youth strategy."
