Rosie Thomas, a student at The University of Newcastle upon Tyne, is a member of SCAN (Student Community Action Newcastle). Last Christmas they organised a project to redistribute unwanted duvets from halls of residence to housing associations and shelters around the city. Through SCAN she says: "I have also gained invaluable experience, and now in my third year as I am applying for jobs I have truly come to realise this."

Kickz is a national social inclusion football programme, managed by the Football Foundation. Ryan, aged 17, joined the scheme with Millwall and now leads warm-ups, helps to plan sessions and referees matches.
