The National Youth Agency: Collaboration heralds exciting times for young people's rights

1 min read
One of the key messages in the latest edition of Hear by Right, The National Youth Agency's standards framework for the participation of children and young people, is safeguarding against tokenism.

With this goal in mind, The NYA is in part linking Hear by Right to external validation through partnership with Investing In Children (IiC). This collaboration should allow prospective partners to make use of approaches developed by both organisations aimed at promoting the rights of children and young people.

Prospective partners will be able to draw upon support to explore their capacity to include and encourage participation, and to create an action plan to address any shortfalls. They will also be given support in commissioning (where appropriate) staff development and practice support, will be better able to measure the impact of the plans and become part of a "community of practice" through which children, young people, practitioners and policy makers can share lessons, learn from each other and explore approaches to further development and improvements.
